Jim Bures AFTL

I have an 11 year career as a Mechanical Design Engineer, which includes 7 years at Raytheon. At Raytheon, I designed and documented various radar related equipment from circuit card enclosures used on Navy vessels to air traffic control radars to ten story ballistic missile defense radars. I led projects from conception through production, coordinated prototype manufacture and negotiated vendor price quotes. I also supervised drafters and worked alongside other departments such as configuration management, production control, electrical engineering, and more. I worked to release drawings, write and process ECOs, and maintained parts lists. During this career, I used ProEngineer and AutoCAD.

After a foray into Graphic Design, in which I obtained an Associate's Degree from Mt. Wachusett and started my own freelance company, I seek a position in the lucrative and more stable Mechanical Design realm. I have updated my skills, though classwork, to include Solidworks 3D modeling and drawing creation. In one class, I designed a Camera Arm assembly for a corporate partner of MassBay Community College, SMC Ltd., that won engineering praise. In another class, at Quinsigamond Community College, I successfully earned my CSWA (Certificate of Solidworks Associate) that demonstrates my skills using Solidworks. I am currently learning sheet metal and plastics modeling techniques using Solidworks at MassBay (Spring 2017) and seek a professional position in Mechanical Design.
